While computer languages such as C++ or Perl are very structured and are designed to be clear in meaning to a parser, natural languages evolved over thousands of years and took on characteristics like accents, slang, inflection, local terminology, and meaning of words and phrases in context. The understanding and use of natural languages is a much harder problem for computers than understanding computer languages.
